"The Awkward Dance of the Romanian Mechanical Doll" for piano trio

This trio composed by Ovidiu Marinescu for violin, cello, and piano evokes Eastern-European folk music. The piano is prepared in the low register to recall the cymbalom (țambal, hammer-dulcimer). The mixed meter and augmented seconds give the piece an exotic feel, and the end breaks into a Gypsy style frantic dance.
